On 13 February 2010 a gathering of elite waveski surfers came together to kick start the competition season for the 2010 east coast point score. The competition was held at The Pines, located in the northern suburbs of Wollongong.
Surf size was small with the beach break offering 2-3ft waves.
For its size however, the waves were quite punchy, and with the almost glassy conditions surfers were able to rip in and showcase some excellent small wave surfing.
After the first round Blair Moore was the likely favourite to win the event. Setting the standard with the waves on offer by smashing out four or five solid turns per wave.
Ben John and Bazil Reepa made an appearance back into the local surf comp scene and showed that they have been getting plenty of water time in loosing no ability in the competition side of surfing.
And a new face to the comp scene Wayne Fernance turned up to his first comp in years and took home the “B” Grade” honour. Congrats Wayne…
Welcome back to the comp scene everyone. No matter where you are in Australia I hope you all have a great year and can get to your local comps. Weather to hone in your surfing skills or to catch up to meet old and new friends.
Happy surfing,
Dale Randahl
