It was great to see lots of familiar and new faces with current and former world title/cup holders Neil Decker, Darren Kearns, Lisa Ryan and Karen Campbell joining in the fun and Dave Dinning showed up at the end of the day. There were also lots of beginners and folks who have been on the club and social surfing scene for years.

Given the keeness of so many people and the event being a one day comp, contest director Neil Decker created a unique comp format of 10 min heats, one best wave counted to keep everyone on their toes. Each entrant surfed at least 4 heats in the open before moving to the B grade.

Former world champion Lisa Ryan (female christo equivalent) who we haven't seen on the comp scene for many years managed to cause a few upsets and snuck into the open final to battle it out with the boys.

Nigel Bryant won the X factor award, for going through every reperchage round possible to finally come second in the open.
