WSA 2009 JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
To assist with junior development in the sport of Waveski Surfing in Australia, WSA is proud to announce the 2009 Junior Scholarship Foundation. The program aims to encourage the youth of Australia to learn the sport of waveski surfing, enable participation at events and assist the growth and development of the sport to ensure that Australia remains at the helm of waveski surfing long into the future. The 2009 Junior Scholarship Program is an investment into the future of Waveski Surfing in Australia.

WHO CAN APPLY

  • Males and females between 10 and 20 years of age as of 8th April 2009. Younger participants can apply but success will be at the discretion of WSA.
  • Permanent residents of Australia and 2009 financial members of Waveski Surfing Australia Inc. and a registered WSA Waveski club.
  • Grants will be awarded at the discretion of the association to deserving applicants who meet the criteria and demonstrate aspirations to develop in the sport of Waveski Surfing.
  • Applicants who can commit to competing in atleast one event in 2009 - Includes the World Waveski Surfing Titles or at least one other WSA sanctioned events (ie Lakesea Classic, Wollongong Open, Coffs Harbour event etc).
  • Applicants who are prepared to support and embrace Waveski Surfing Australia with respect to professionalism, commitment and code of conduct.
  • Applicants who demonstrate the potential /ability to aim for waveski surfing’s highest mantle – World Waveski Surfing Champion.

WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP INVOLVES

The scholarship program will award up to $7500 worth of grants in 2009. Successful applications will receive a financial grant of $750 in 2009. The grant will be paid in three instalments. The first instalment ($350) will be paid once the successful applicant has been announced. The second instalment will be made after the 2009 World Waveski Titles ($200) and the final instalment received in December 2009 after submitting an update on their progress ($200).

Recipients will be asked to contribute the Waveski Surfing Australia website by way of profiles, photos, interviews, stories about the progress to reach their goals.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants should submit a completed application form (Adobe 88kb) and letter/email on why they would like to receive sponsorship from Waveski Surfing Australia Inc.

Your application and letter should cover:

  • Name, date of birth, address, email address, telephone number, recent photo of you or you surfing and your shirt size.
  • Your goals and how you plan to achieve them.
  • If you are under 18 years of age, a signed consent from your parent or guardian with contact details for confirmation.
  • How the grant will assist with achieving your goals and how you will use the funding.
  • Description of your academic, sporting or career history and achievements to date.
  • Proof of 2009 financial membership or your WSA 2009 Membership Application form.
