PROFILES BEN REES KYE

NAME: Ben Buckley
AGE: 18 years
HOMETOWN: Wollongong, NSW

Ben has been waveski surfing since he was 12 years old and started competing a year later when he was 13. Ben has set his sights on the 2009 World Waveski Titles and is aiming for the World Juniors Title and finishing in the top 32 of the Open division.

Ben has recently moved to Wollongong to study a Biotechnology degree at the Univerity of Wollongong. He hopes that this will give him the opportunity to train in higher quality breaks and mentoring with some of the worlds best waveski surfers such as Lance Milnes, Dale Randahl and Basil Repa.

The sponsorship will help Ben with travel expenses to the world titles and with purchasing a new higher performance waveski.

NAME: Rees Duncan Jnr
AGE: 12 years
HOMETOWN: Emerald Beach, NSW

Rees junior is an all round sportperson with a passion for surfing and waveski surfing. He started riding a body board at the age of 4 and was riding a short board by 6. Rees had his first try of a waveski last year and took to it like a duck to water. Since that day he has resisted the pressures of riding a surf board and body board to progress on his waveski. This year Rees will be competing in the World titles at his local break, Emerald Beach and hopes to get a place in the cadets. This grant will go towards buying a new waveski..

NAME: Kye Duncan
AGE: 10 years
HOMETOWN: Emerald Beach, NSW

Kye is a keen all round sportsperson who has had great results in his athletics and soccer.This year Kye would like to compete at the 2009 World Titles and make it to the final of the cadets division. The funding will go towards some new surf gear, like a wetsuit, paddles and go towards a new waveski.
