WSA Membership 2009

 

Waveski Surfing Australia is the national body for the sport of Waveski Surfing in Australia and central port of call for information on the sport in Australia. Membership to the WSA is open to anyone.

To assist with developing membership growth, this year WSA is providing three levels of membership:

  • Full Membership for adults providing eligibility to take part in any club activities and competitions with full insurance coverage.
  • Full membership for juniors providing eligibility to take part in any club activities and competitions with full insurance coverage.
  • Associate/club membership for waveski surfers interested in taking part in club activities (does not include participation in competitions) with full insurance cover.

Benefits
By becoming a financial member of Waveski Surfing Australia, you will be entitled to the following benefits:

  • Eligibility to take part in affiliated club or association events – Current full membership is a requirement for entering any competition event.
  • Comprehensive insurance coverage inclusive of social, training and competitive events. This insurance cover includes public liability, professional indemnity and personal accident insurance. All affiliated associations, clubs and their financial members are covered by WSA insurance.
  • Regular information updates by email and WSA newsletter every four-six months; WSA News is packed with stories about waveski surfing from around Australia and the world. It is an important source of information as a competitor, letting you know when events are and the latest policy decisions of the WSA. There is also a chance to see your name in print or a photo of yourself in action. The current circulation of the WSA News is around 400 people across Australia.
  • Affiliation benefits through sports stores and car hire and further partnerships are being negotiated etc.
  • Eligibility to take part in the World Waveski Titles. To be eligible to attend a world titles, a competitor must be a full or junior member of a club or association affiliated with Waveski Surfing Australia.
  • Discounted Australian team clothing on attending world title events.
  • The WSA website is a central hub for information about waveski surfing in Australia. It is provided as a service to members. WSA strives towards the association waveski surfing website being the best in the world.
  • Behind the scenes, WSA is working hard on developing the sport in Australia. Some of your membership fee’s go into running the association, contributing towards junior and elite development, promotion of the sport Australia wide to help WSA strive towards its vision.

Rebel Sport Discounts
WSA is registered with the Rebel Sport MVP program. This entitles members to 5% off any item including those already discounted. Rebel Sport have stores in every state except Tasmania at the moment. See their web site for store locations. The membership card must be provided at the point of purchase.

The WSA also receives a 5% percent Rebel credits on all purchases made by members which can be used by WSA for prizes and team clothing. So, by saving at Rebel you are also helping WSA.

Membership Costs

For 2009, the membership period has been brought inline to coincide with WSA financial year and the WAWSA membership year and is from the 1st January 2009 to 31 st December 2009 and provides three levels of membership with full insurance coverage.  

WAVESKI SURFING AUSTRALIA FULL MEMBERSHIP - $50.00
Entitles WSA members to be eligible to take part in club activities and any competitive events, i.e. Australian Titles, World Titles, other competitions throughout Australia.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP ONLY - $25.00
Entitles club members to be eligible to take part in club activities only, i.e. Club days and social surfing activities. If a person chooses to compete in a competition after paying for the club membership fee, they will need to pay the additional $25 to obtain full WSA membership.

 JUNIORS (under 20 yrs) AND FULL TIME STUDENTS - $20.00
Entitles juniors and full time students to take part in club and competition activities. Proof of age or full time student status may be required.

Want to become a member?

  1. Complete either of the following steps:
  • Download the membership form (29kb) and send it to Waveski Surfing Australia with a cheque, money order attached or direct deposit, or
  • Complete the membership form at any club event and make your payment to the affiliated club running the event. Clubs will need to ensure that their individual members are fully paid members of WSA.
  1. Upon receipt of fees and completed membership application, WSA will send you a membership card with a unique WSA membership number. When you enter an event, your WSA number may need to be quoted.

 Club or Contest Directors
As contest director, you have a responsibility to collect WSA fees on behalf of your club activities or events. Not collecting fees may put your public liability insurance at risk and the competitors at risk of losing injury compensation coverage. See the Insurance policy for more information.

Before an event:

  • You must contact the WSA and obtain a current list of financial WSA members to ensure all competitors are registered.
  • Email WSA to obtain a copy of the insurance certificate that may be required by council.
  • Obtain copies of the membership form (29kb) for any new members and competitiors to join.

At the completion of an event:

  • You must advise the WSA within 28 days of completion of the event of any new members by forwarding completed membership forms and payment for those members. A receipt will be sent to the club or contest director to confirm receipt.
  • The WSA address for cheques and membership forms is : Waveski Surfing Australia Inc., 27 Larentia Street, Currumbin Waters QLD 4223. You can pay by cheque or by direct deposit to the WSA bank account.

If you are a competition or event organizer of an affiliated club or association, you can use Campbell's Cash & Carry wholesale outlets for bulk purchasing of food and drink (non-alcoholic), usually (but not always) at a significant discount to retail prices.
