There have been a number of enquiries regarding the 2009 World Waveski Surfing Titles. We have put together frequently asked questions which may assist you. Q1. What does it mean closing date 31 July 2009 and/or when 100 entries are received? Answer We have set the closing date as 31 July 2009 or a limit to 100 open entries to enable us to properly prepare for the event with respect to identification of seeds and setting out the heats and draw. The event is capped at 100 entries for the Open as any more than that will not allow the competition to be run in the time allowed. Q2. How do I know that my entry has been received? Answer The contest organisers verify and confirm your entry upon receipt of a valid entry form and entry fee. This is done by way of email. Q3. Can I send in my entry form and pay when I arrive on 3rd September 2009? Answer No, an entry is only valid when fully paid for. Q4. Is there an opportunity for me to enter the event after 31 July 2009 if there is a spare spot in the draw? Answer No, there is no provision to enter the event after 31 July 2009. Q5. I am not arriving in Coffs Harbour until late Friday afternoon 4 September 2009 as I have to work, will I still be able to compete? Answer No, you won’t be able to compete as we have advised all competitors that they must register in person for the event no later than 12 noon on Friday 4 September 2009. This is an essential part of our program to ensure that World Waveski Surfing Association fees are paid, that Code of Conduct is signed and to receive important event briefing information. Unforseen incidents such as car accident, illness which delays arrival of competitors will be considered at the Contest Director’s discretion. Q6. Why do I have to pay an affiliation fee to the World Waveski Surfing Association and when is it paid? Answer The World Waveski Surfing Association relies upon funds to administer Waveski surfing on a global level. It derives part of its funds from competitor entries.Payment will required when you sign in before 12 noon, Friday 4 September. Q7. I have not competed in the World Titles for a long time can I still qualify for the Open Division? Answer Yes you still qualify as long as your entry is received by 31 July 2009 and/or is within the 100 open division entries capping whichever comes first. Q8. I am not a member of my country’s Waveski Club or Association – can I still compete at the World Titles? Answer No, you cannot compete if you are not a current financial member of your respective nation’s Waveski club or association? Q9. Could you explain to me about the rules regarding priority system and man on man Answer All information about the rules can be found in the World Waveski Surfing Association Rule Book 2009. The Contest Director and Head Judge will be available at the Briefing Session on 4 September 2009 to further explain the contest format etc. Q10. I am not sure where to stay? Answer Information on where to stay can be found under the ACCOMODATION & TRAVEL section of this website. Q11. Do I really need to hire a car or will someone pick me up from the airport? Answer It’s advisable to hire a car to get around as the competition may not always be at Emerald Beach. A car will enable you to travel around and check out the local scenery as well as other surf sports and social activities. We are unable to provide transport for competitors as we are expecting many people to arrive into Coffs Harbour within a short space of time. Information on car hire can be found under the ACCOMODATION & TRAVEL Section of this website.
