Worlds Day 6 - Thursday 10th September 2009

The surf had dropped off a little today into the 3 foot range. We had a low tide in the morning and the onshore winds didnt pick up until about 1 pm. Age divisions and womens heats were the order of the day and most of the finalists have now been decided. The was some awesome surfing today highlighted by Orion Carbonell's massive aerial on the inside section.

One of the toughest heats of the day was the 1st womens semi final with 4 of the worlds top riders trading positions on every exchange. In the end it was Caroline Angibaund and Lisa Ryan triumphint over Melissa Hardy and Coralie Jousett.

Open division round of 16 tomorrow where we'll see man on man surfing introduced for the first time in a world title event.  Its a pretty open field as some of the favoured riders were elmininated in the previous round.
